Weekend at the Alvord's

I spent the weekend at the Alvord Mountains. I camp there on a small hill west of the mine road and the well site. There are jasper flakes on the ground next to my tent that indicate a spot where early Indians also stopped at the same place. It is not surprising to me---after all, I picked the spot as one of the best places in our Mojave desert to spend a day or so.

The views are spectacular. South, I can see four ranges of mountains--the Newberry's, the Rodman's, the Ord's, and the San Bernardino's. There were about a thousand desert lilies sprouting for an early bloom. But also there was new trash at the site. Shooters had come and left a pretty sizable pile of "shooter filth."

I picked it up. I try and maintain the area west of the road. The piles east are beyond my scope. Anyone who leaves any trash in the desert is less than scum in my book. After all, scum is bio-degradable. Shooters are bio-degradable--shooter trash--not so much.

Here are the photo's.
