Middle Lion Campground
I stayed a Middle Lion Campground a few days ago. It is in a very beautiful area of the Los Padres National Forest. The pictures are of my campsite, the trails nearby (mostly the Lion Canyon Trail) and the streams that run through the area.
Although the streams were very shallow, I was able to catch a few rainbow trout. They were very beautiful fish. The biggest that I caught was around a foot long but was surprisingly fat for the little stream where he was hanging out. You need an Adventure Pass to camp here but it is well worth the price. Very cool. I was east of you this past weekend on a road trip. Friday I hooked up with the San Andreas Rift Zone off the I15 and Hwy 138 at Lone Pine Canyon Road and followed it all the way to Gorman. From there I went north and did the Frank Latta history tour, which had side trips of Sequoia National Park and the Pine Flat Lake.
I was back in Idyllwild at the cabin by Sat. night at 9 pm after leaving the Kings River at 3. A lot more driving and a lot fewer fish caught, but I saw bigger trees. NJ ![]()
