I got in a great hike last weekend and this weekend. Both hikes were up on Fuller Ridge in the San Jacinto Mountains. Laurence, the PCT "Spring Guy," talked me into hiking down the north side of Fuller Ridge on some little-used trails. Last weekend it was the California Riding and Hiking Trail. This weekend it was an old logging road that started where the PCT crosses a dirt Forest Service road well down past the Fuller Ridge Trail head.
Yes, the deer shooters were around in big numbers, but we were out early and saw the deer well before they managed to drag all the gear into their trucks, eat big breakfasts, suit up in camo, and get to the mountain. I didn't get shot and didn't hear any shooting, so the deer probably had plenty of time to clear out and it was all good.
Here are the photo's. The mountain in the distance is Gorgonio, the yellow flower is rabbit brush, the red is California fuchsia, the tree is a Sequoia (some one must have planted it but miles from any place you'd expect to see a Sequoia), the small star thing is a star mushroom (puff ball), and the dogs are Gunner and Ted.
