Opal Mountain revisited

I had planned to head for Anza-Borrego after Christmas, but the weather warmed up and my buddy, Jon, and I went to Opal Mountain instead. The days were fine and I wore shorts, but Monday night got very cold and froze the dog's water dish. The rest of the nights were not bad, and my feet stayed warm. ALWAYS CHANGE INTO CLEAN DRY SOCKS BEFORE CLIMBING INTO THE SLEEPING BAG.

I made some great chow (see previous posts for all the usual suspects), and we did a lot of activities that I have done before but were new to Jon. We hiked down to the RAWS weather station, over to the spring, up to the mine, and to the top of Opal Mountain. We drove around to Inscription Canyon and then down Black Canyon in a big loop which got us back to camp. Our camping spot was 3.1 miles as the crow flies from Inscription Canyon.

All in all a wonderful few days. Here are the photo's.
