The snake was a California Whipsnake or striped racer. The lizard was a California Whiptail. Great photo's. Where is Bear Creek?

Very cool. Are the truck trails open to vehicles?

Not sure really. There is an OHV area off HWY39 but majority of these trails are open to foot traffic or hiking only. I would call the Ranger Station to find out.

Hey everyone!

First time poster here. My friends and I recently got into backpacking and this place seems like a great start for us. I was wondering what is required to camp here. I would love to do a single night weekend trip. Also where do you park your car? This is obviously not a loop trail, so is there an area to park both cars? Sorry for my newbness, I just want to be prepare. Thank you!

My guess is that you need an Adventure Pass for the days you will be parked at the trail head. Otherwise, I'd check with the ranger district---the closest ranger station for campfire and stove information. Rules change very quickly in the fall because of fire season..

Sorry for the late reply...I hardly ever log in here now sadly.

For this specific trail, my buddy and I had to park our cars one at the end of the trail and one at the start of the trail. You will need an Adventure pass to park your vehicle.

There are other trails that are loops where you can park your car at a single spot.
