This is our second time to lake Mead and Hoover dam, at least the 2nd time with our little 2-year-old daughter. She was here about 7 months ago, but I think she was too young to remember. We stayed near the main Vegas strip, took the 515 to 93 freeway to get to the marina. Then from there, we drove directly to the dam via highway 93. The road that lead to the lake and campsites is hard to find on highway 93. If you don't pay attention, you'll miss it on your left side.
