Panamint Valley 2010

I camped this weekend in the Panamint Valley with a group from a website about the valley.

I traveled up on Friday (first two photo’s) and got to the campground by 2:30. Ted and Gunner were my companions and they did just fine. Even with a few episodes of bad manners and some tent training mistakes, we still had a great time. B-Spec and Bill took us on a Friday night 4-wheel expedition to China Garden Spring and then on to the boondocks of Darwin where we found a lot of nothing and a little bit of old cabin. Plus some great night exploring in the nether regions.

Saturday we followed Bill up over Towne Pass and then across the alluvial slope to a canyon on the back side of Tucki Mountain. We ended up at a great old mine site for lunch. Then back to camp for pot luck dinner. The carrot cake was superb.

I hit it for home Sunday and stopped along the road in Trona to photo a golden eagle perched on a pole.

Death Valley and Panamint Valley are wonderful places this time of year and from now on until early summer, the place can not be beat for scenic beauty and interesting places to visit.
