View Full Version : San Gorgonio Wilderness

I made it up to the wilderness this time. My brother in law, a friend, and I took the Momyer Creek Trail up. The creek at the trail head has a bit of water this this time of year. There are still few snow patches up in the higher elevation. We went up to about 7500' and decided to get down. I'm totally out of shape and wouldn't have made it any further.

When I'm in MUCH better shape hahahah . I'll probably go back a few more times to practice. It's close to my house.

You mention the creek having plenty of water. The San Jacinto Mountains had a very nice wet winter--wetter than the rainfall totals in Idyllwild seem to indicate. On Fuller Ridge this past weekend, I noticed many more wet spots where I have never seen springs before. Places where there normally are small springs have become flowing streams.

Wild flowers still show, Western Azaleas, Mariposa lilies, and abundant spikes of snow plant.
