Well our most recent trip was up to Big Bear the weekend of 10/6/07. We stayed at Serrano Campground which is on the North side of the lake. The weather was utterly freezing (20.6 degrees at night according to our weather station) and it even snowed a little on Friday night, and the warmest we got was 56 on Saturday the 6th. BURRRR!
Due to the recent fire and excessive amount of pine needles that haven't rotted away yet, they did not allow campfires, which really sucked for the tent campers that weekend. The ranger anticipated that the no campfire rule would probably stay in effect until they get a decent amount of rain up there.
I believe that it has warmed up a little since then, but keep in mind, park services shut down the campgrounds in Big Bear during the winter, so these are some of the last chances to visit before the snow.
