Gunner and I are heading south again this weekend. The RAWS site at Fish creek says warm of 70 to 68 all weekend low of 47. That sounds good to me (Gunner actually likes it colder). After several weekends at Clark Lake, I am going to stay on S2 and try the Vallecito area, Blair Valley, Box Canyon, etc. I just finished reading Old Time Cattlemen of the Anza Borrego, by Lester Reed and want to check out some of the locations he mentions including the Indian pictograph sites. He also has a lot of history surrounding the springs of the area.
Spring sites hold a special interest to me. I like the plant life and wildlife at those sites as well as the history. The Indians would camp away from springs because they did not want to interrupt the wildlife that need desert springs to survive.
