Hello there!!!!

It's nice to see that the interest in camping is growing; and to see familar names. :)

Figured I should post something at least slightly significant. http://www.reserveamerica.com provides camping reservation for all federal and state campgrounds and you can book 6 months in advance. So for all of May reservations, you can book the first day of November. They also provide campground maps, info, and spot details. Good stuff. We book about 3/4 of our camping trips through them (basically all unless we're going to a county-run campground, or if we're just going out to the middle of nowhere). Don't bother calling, it's a lot easier to do it online.

Good luck everyone, and happy camping!

James, did you get a trailer yet?

+1 http://www.reserveamerica.com. They have some very good detailed information on camp sites. We use them for most of the reservations.

Trailers? We prefer tents and sleeping bags! You can't tow a trailer up on hiking trails!! Plus, who needs one when your friend already has one. :P

Welcome to the forum, T.

When I called the Redwood park service, they actually told me to use reserveamerica.com to reserve me camping spot.

Nice. Since it's not part of the government, you'll get much better services too!

No, you cannot pull a trailer through mountain hiking trails, but what's to say that you can't park it nearby and hike from there (even though you'll probably never catch our lazy asses hiking anywhere - so you've got me there anyway).... but it sure beats sleeping on the ground, and sh*tting in the bushes. ;)

Actually married life isn't any different than life before marriage to be honest.

How are you doing?

Shitting in the bushes isn't too bad, wiping your ass with leaves is not as fun though... especially if you grab a handful of poison ivy...

Has anyone figured out when exactly when reserveamerica makes a day available? I would love to camp at Dohey SB on a Friday and Saturday but I can never reserver in time.

What do you mean? If a camp site is available, it should show up... :dunno

I didn't even know that the site is down. It was down in early Oct for a system upgrade but that was done by mid Oct.

Let me rephrase my last post.

Campsites under Reserve America's control are released to the public 6 months in advance on the 1st of the month. So in my scenario , if want to reserve a campsite in July I need to call Reserve America on the 2st (1st is a holiday) of January.

I tried using them on a last-minute trip (of course no dice), but it works great for advance bookings, and much easier than calling every place there is.

For some reason, I don't like the sound of the waves. A lot of people consider that soothing but I can't sleep because of the noise. I'm weird like that. :geek:

If you drink more the sound goes away.

That's true, but I don't drink...oh wait, I'm not bothered by it anyway
